I have a rtx 2080, i7 8700k, 16gb ddr4 3200mhz tridentZ rgb ram and a msi krait gaming z370 motherboard. Now I feel there might be a bottleneck here or some form of thing that is impacting my PC's performance in terms of running video games because in hunt showdown for example I only get 60-75 fps on high, yet my friend who has older not as good parts compared to mine can run it on high and get around 100fps and it's like this in a lot of games that even tho I have the "stronger parts" they seem to run stuff better

What resolution are you and your friend running?

To answer your question; no. There's no "bottleneck" with an 8700k + RTX 2080.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

That's why then. 1440p is a lot more demanding than 1080p. 2560x1440 is about 3.6 million pixels while 1080p is only about 2 million pixels.
Try setting the display to 1080p and use the same settings your friend uses and see what FPS you get then.

Doubt the cpu would have a problem at that res. The difference seems right but you can always see what others get with the same res. Or drop yours to 1080p and compare to your friends then.

If the game isnt cpu intensive, should be good. Though that cpu can struggle with some games at 1080p with weaker cards.
