My current build

FX-8350

MSI 970A-G46

16GB (4x4GB) RAM

128GB SSD

XFX Radeon HD 7870

XFX 550w power supply

I need a new graphics card, a 1tb hard drive, and either another tb or a 500gb, and a new monitor. The one i have now seems to have screen tearing issues. When I'm in minecraft it'll look like I'm playing at maybe 40 fps, but it'll say I'm at 114. I've even tried turning vsync on.

To be honest, I suggest you start saving up for a new PC.

Unfortunately I think you've just wasted your money, the AMD FX line is awful and will limit you in terms of GPU upgrades.

Could i at least salvage some parts from this to put in my new one?

like ram, the sdd, the power supply, case, and optical drive?

Have to agree with @LinusTechTipsFanFromDarlo here, you should upgrade your motherboard, CPU, and ram, to get better improvement.

Just the SSD is worth reusing in the new PC.

@LinusTechTipsFanFromDarlo You can get it for even cheaper while still maintaining quality parts by dropping the RGB ram and switching to the RX 580 Armor which has a better stock clock and can also be Overclocked to outperform the nitro, the Gigabyte Aorus boards also have better VRMs than MSI has on their B450 chipset boards. Also the H500 is an oven, it has terrible airflow and in no way worth the extra $30 - $40 over a decent MAtx case.

Main Desktop: CPU - i9-14900k | Mobo - Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | GPU - PNY Gaming OC RTX 5080 16GB RAM - Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 64GB 6400mhz | AIO - Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360mm | PSU - Corsair RM1000X | Case - Hyte Y40 - White | Storage - Samsung 980 Pro 1TB Nvme /  Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 4TB Nvme / Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB Nvme / Samsung 870 EVO 4TB SSD / Samsung 870 QVO 2TB SSD/ Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SSD|

TV Streaming PC: Intel Nuc CPU - i7 13th Gen | RAM - 16GB DDR4 3200mhz | Storage - Crucial P3 Plus 1TB Nvme |

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra - Black 256GB |

I'm assuming you're planning on re-using your old ram since i don't see ram listed on this build.

What's the clock speed on your ram?

You should upgrade your ram as well. Ryzen benefits from higher clock speeds. 3000 is the sweet spot. Go for one of the cheaper ones recommended above and put it in your build.

FX-series uses DDR3 which is incompatible with the Ryzen CPU anyway that uses DDR4, he has to get new RAM either way.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600  Heatsink: ID-Cooling Frostflow X GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 Mini 6GB RAM: KLEVV Bolt 3600Mhz (2x8GB) Mobo: ASUS B550-F ROG Strix (Wifi)  Case: Fractal Design Meshify C PSU: Deepcool DQ-M-V2L

I've decided its easier to just sell my computer and build a new one completely. I changed some parts out and added some, is this build okay?

Don't do 4x4GB RAM. Dual channel is what you want, and you're overspending that way.

Better PSU for less, significantly better GPU, and much larger HDD. I personally wouldn't overspend on Samsung if it's not being used for heavy read/write use.

The case... Highly personal decision. I went with a slightly larger case for build ease, and since this PSU isn't modular. It's got a PSU enclosure, so that shouldn't effect management.
