Im just trying to build a work/leisure pc out of old parts. I have a optiplex 790 that i got for free and I want to put a xeon 1230 in it. To my knowledge, the xeon doesn't have integrated graphics. Therefore, what kind of cheap used gpu can I through in it? Trying to stay under 45$ or so. Please do not lambaste me if any of this sounds stupid. Im new to this and just want a little help. Thanks. (And Yes I am putting a larger power supply in it)

Just some half height short graphics card using PCIe will do. Dont even need a new PSU for that

it will depend on what the local used market has to offer and what display output you want.

 

If your case isn't an SFF (most are, that's why I assumed it is) then even full height cards are good,

GTX cards also get support for stuff like shadowplay and NVENC, though I'm not sure if you need more than just display outputs
