So since about 1 week i have been experiencing massive fps drops from having 200 fps in a game to having around 20-25 and it's very inconsistent so every 5 seconds it goes from high to low to high. I have a gaming laptop (ASUS TUF Gaming FX504GM-E4219T).

these are the specs:

GeForce GTX 1060

Intel Core i7 8750H @2.20ghz

16gb

256gb SSD

1tb HDD.

I have literally no clue why this is happening and its happening in every game (CS:GO, Apex Legends, League of Legends)

If someone knows something that might help me please let me know :)

EDIT: My pc also usually gets really hot really quickly between like 85-90 degrees Celsius.

Go to the manufacturer’s website and update your drivers.  Sounds like it could be an issue with NVidia or Intel control panel/command center.  I’ve had a similar issue in the past when I rolled back my GPU drivers and somehow it corrupted my control panel driver.  Also verify the storage capacity on your SSD.  Good luck!

This was done through a link provided by the program dialogue once I selected the control panel from Windows.  GeForce Experience said it was downloaded and didn’t rewrite the file and I was forced to go through the Microsoft store on Windows 10 Pro.

my SSD has like 50 gb so thats fine and my drivers are fully up-to-date. do you think it could help if i remove the drivers completely and reinstall?

Absolutely.  Try to download the drivers then overwrite/repair if possible.  Also, adjusting the NVidia control panel 3D settings can help improve FPS without adding risk through educated modifications of bios.
