What should i buy?

xPiKe

CPU: AMD FX-8350

GPU: 960 GTX

Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M

1x SSD

2x4GB DDR3 RAM

Current PSU: Aqqprox 480W

Hey so i got this new CPU and my pc keeps crashing mostly when i'm playing games but not only. I'm thinking that it should be the PSU but after checking the PSU tier list topic on the forum i saw that a 500w PSU should be enough .So i'm not sure how this works if the brand affects the stability of the PSU or something but i just wanna have an idea of what to look for or if something else could be the culprit. Thank you in advance. :)

meh, even 400w would suffice. Quality over Wattage! With a 450w there'd be some headroom as well.

PurePower 11 400w cm or Bitfenix WhisperM 450w would be my choice.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

Wait... The PSU brand is actually called "Aqprox"? Are you sure it isn't just a typo on the label for "Approx 480w"? :D

If you're passionate about IT and electronics, like being up to date on technology and don't miss even the slightest details, buy Power supply approx! APP500PS ATX 480W Passive PFC at an unbeatable price.

  • Type: Power Supplies 400..600W
  • Brand: Approx!
  • Power: 400 W

Model number: APP500PS
Model Name: Approx 480W
Type Power Supplies 400..600W
Power: 400W

Total Power 468W

Max Power 500W

At least it's living up to its name. "Approx 480w" :D

Seriously though that PSU looks like actual garbage. That PSU should be replaced ASAP.

Wattage isn't the issue, but the quality of the unit certainly is.

How are you powering your GTX960 graphics card if the power supply does not have a PCIe connector?

What country are you in?

Sure, not a bad idea as the cx450 only has a single PCIe connector for graphics cards while the cx550 has two. Not an issue with your current GTX960 which should only require one connector, but if you change graphics cards you might need the second connector.

GX-F isn't available in Europe no more, sadly...

Well for ~70 EUR You can get bitfenix formula gold 550w,  or for 80€, be quiet pure power 11 cm 500w or whisper m bitfenix.

With that budget i would not recommend sparing expenses on this crucial element of your rig.
