75hz monitor capped at 60hz in settings?

*Sorry is this is posted in the wrong spot, my first time here*

I have a 75hz Asus monitor and it is capped at 60hz in the windows settings. The drop down menu doesnt have the option for anything above 60hz. Im very confused but think it has something to do with the cord i use. I have a Display-port to HDMI cord that might be capping it but im not sure if this is the issue.
