Hey, I have recently posted in here but I made some changes and want to see what everyone thinks of my build & how much FPS you think I'll get in PUBG, CSGO, Hitman etc etc.

I am predominantly going to be using this PC for graphic design, video editing & web design but gaming is obviously something that is cool to have on the side for fun

  • CPU: Intel - Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor
  • CPU Cooler: Corsair - H100i PRO 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
  • GPU: GPU NV RTX2070 Windforce 8GB FH
  • Motherboard: MSI - Z390-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
  • Memory: G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
  • Storage: Western Digital - Blue 2 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
  • Case: Corsair - Carbide Series 275R ATX Mid Tower Case
  • Power Supply: Corsair - RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

I am going to be adding an SSD later on - just out of budget right now as you can tell from  the build haha!
My monitor that I have already is the 27" 1440p 1ms response time, 144hz MSI monitor

let me know what you all think of this build, any improvements that can be made; any cheaper things that can be changed (I am not changing the GPU or the CPU)

Thanks

Zen 2?

And I was debating an SSD now or later - do you think spend £50 on an SSD instead and then get a HDD?

Zen 2 is the next generation of Ryzen CPUs (the naming scheme is Ryzen (3/5/7/9) 3*00(X), like Ryzen 9 3900X or Ryzen 3 3300X). The top end parts are supposed to beat the 9900k for much cheaper; and also provide a decent upgrade path and PCIe 4.0. Plus, they're not housefires. Hell, the top end 3900X beats the i9 9920X, a 1300$ CPU; at 12c/24t, for only 499$. There's supposed to be a 16c/32t part too (3950X) for probably 499-599$. Prices will drop a lot

An upgrade to an SSD for a boot & programs drive is one of the best things you can do, especially if you're upgrading from a low-end (<32MB cache) or 5400RPM drive. It's a huge leap.

For 50 pounds, a 500GB MX500 can be had

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

Ahh ok - I will keep an eye out for Zen 2 and see what I think, when is it meant to be coming out?

It's a 7nm CPU, so of course it's coming on 7/7 (July 7th).

If you are doing graphical design and and video editing, have you looked into the color reproduction of the MSI monitor you're using? Not saying its bad, just thinking most gaming focused monitors don't have the best color reproduction and that might be important for the work you have to do.

See, I did read some reviews about the monitor that I'm using; but after using it for just over 2 weeks now; I can say that it is actually really good and I don't notice anything bad about it; the colours are good & accurate - I did change the monitor settings to Designer, opposed to user, rpg etc. and that made a huge difference - increased contrast a lot more and made things a lot more accurate than before. I appreciate what you have said though, it was a concern.

the VRMs on that board aren't gonna be enough for the 9900k, and get a 7200rpm HDD instead.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W
