I got into PC gaming in the early to mid 2000s. I decided to see what I could build on a budget and get back into PC gaming, I could have never have afforded this back in the mid 2000s. Its been fun to build and play on older hardware but its amazing what can be built for not much money.

Spec

Some chinese piece of crap case bought  ex display  from my local PC store - £14

Intel Q6600 cpu £4.50  ebay

Asus P5KPL-AM motherboard £13 ebay

Nvidia 8800 GTX £12 from CEX

No name 775 tower cooler £3 ebay

Corsair VX450 PSU - £16.50 eay

2 x 2gb Corsair Dominator 1066 DDR ram - £7 CEX

120gb SSD - £10 ebay

Soundblaster Awe32 PCI card - Already had

Total cost - £80

Its still totally usable as an everyday PC and the SSD helps make it no different to a modern PC in terms of responsiveness but for gaming for early to late 2000 games its so good- Gaming native on windows XP removes alot of compatibility issues - and its been alot of fun getting back into retro gaming, I would have never have been able to afford a machine anywhere near this spec back in the day.
