I am beginning to build a beginner pc. The parts are as follows:

Ryzen 2400g

Asus prime b350-plus

corsair vengeance lpx 8x2 3000 mhz

Wraith stealth cooler

Adata su800 512 m.2 drive

seagate barracuda 2tb

Corsair cx550

This would provide a significant performance boost, though I can't pretend the case is pretty :P

Get this but with an 8 gig 580 and larger HDD if you can stretch the budget a slight bit.

Indeed. I build to fit the budget, but an extra $40 or so would provide a nice boost in the GPU. 

 

I only personally use a 500gb ssd and a 500gb hdd, and I never fill them up even halfway. 

I beat games and uninstall them, and between WoW, SC2, LoL, GTAV, Division 2, and Destiny 2 as constants, that's still only like 250Gb taken up. So yeah, bigger is better, but you can always buy more drive space as needed later.
