First build - advise please

Budget: £950

 

Location: UK

 

What I want: Ill be going off to uni soon and want a small form factor (mini-itx build) pc that has a very low footprint but copes well with a range of tasks as well as gaming well.

 

It has to be:

1)small

2)good for high def gaming (running bf4, skyrim, dishonored, witcher 2 etc.)

3)good with adobe, aft etc.

4) quiet

 

Here's the build idea so far:

cpu: i5 4670k 

motherboard: msi z87i Gaming Ac mini-ITX

GPU: msi gtx 760 gaming itx 2gb

RAM: 1x8gb of corsair vengenace low profile ram    (will buy another stick later)

Cooler: corsair h60 closed loop cpu cooler

storage:  western digital caviar green 1tb (I have 4tb external hdd for work already) (for games only)

case:  silverstone ft03-mini

psu: silverstone strider st45sfg 450w 80+ gold sfx modular

drive: liteOn DL-8atsh slim slot loading laptop drive

os: windows 8

 

Monitors:

I have one 1080p monitor for this to be used for

I also agree with an ssd. If you have to just use your ssd and external storage for now and get another drive later.

any reason for that motherboard over the msi one?

I don't think I'd go lower than 120 GB for SSD and would get a 250 GB if you can.

It's £20 less with no real disadvantages.

i think i can stretch an extra £80 for the 120gb ssd. Im keeping the internal hdd for my games etc to keep them seperate from work

If you aren't going to overclock, you can save more.

That'll do you well. It'll be great having your OS and most used programs like the ones you mentioned on the SSD.

yeah was going to do some overclocking. Not a huge amount but i will be doing some

i have a 64GB SSD for my boot drive.

 

i only have room for OS and maybe 1 program/game
