Laptop Wifi Card

To start this off, I have a laptop. It's a HP Notebook. When we purchased it 5GHz Wi-Fi was either not entirely mainstream or wasn't available yet. So I want go out a get a new Wi-Fi card for it so it can recognize 5GHz. Before I spend money on a part that might not work, I want to know if I buy a new Wi-Fi card, will it recognize 5GHz networks?

The question is will it recognize the WIFI card. You need a driver in order for it to work (best officially supported)

Aren't the slots used in laptops a sort of PCI-E standard? That would ideally make a newer wifi-card usable. You'd just have to find the drivers for the upgraded card.

I don't have it with me at the moment. It's at my place. I will give you the specs of it to help you find it better.

Processor: Intel Core i5 7200U 7th Gen

Ram: 6GB DDR4

Graphics: Intel 620 Integrated Graphics
