That's a real cheapo unit, get yourself something nice to power that 2070, like a Corsair TXM or RMX. 550 watts is plenty as well.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

Hey guys i recently bought a new RTX 2070 graphics card and was wondering whether to go with a 550w power supply or a 650w power supply? all opinions are welcome! (the psu I had in mind was a corsair vs 650w power supply)

First off, welcome to the Forum!

There's a PSU tier list that many users here swear by and will probably be posted below.
Without knowing what CPU you have, I would recommend a 650w just to allow yourself room for overclocking or upgrades in the future. Something like Corsair's RMX, Evga's SuperNOVA G2, or anything from SeaSonic are all going to be good enough.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Instead of getting the CHEAPEST 650W, you should get a BETTER 550W.

and that's said by the guy who designs them... you should get the point

something around cx/cxm level would probably be nice

but it depends... what are you powering?

A good quality 550w unit should suffice. What are the rest of th system specs ?

Even a 450W would work fine.

A 550W is more than you'll ever need.

but NVIDIA recommends a 550W I saw, also the person who had put my setup together had originally installed a vs650W, which i was thinking of upgrading for my RTX 2070, but i dont know which one, also I cant really tell if my GPU is working at its proper potential, cuz the FPS boosts are very minimal from my last GPU!

Yes, because:

a) they don't know how good the PSU is and have to account for utter shit ones such as Seasonic S12II-Bronze, older Corsair VS, most EVGA and THermaltake PSU

b) doesn't know what CPU you have and also overestimate.

VS650 isn't a particularly good unit, if we stay within Corsair, the CX 450W would have been better.

the PSU isn't the Problem with the GPU, usually. That's other things - such as Vsync for example.

So is the CX series a better pick?

Yes!

or are there better ones but not too much too much of a cost!

Depends on availability

in that range you get a way better PSU for just 10-15€ more than the other ones.

Same Wattage of course.

also how good is the corsair RM series?

Wich one?
RMx?? RMi??

What color is the label?

In General: do NOT buy PSU used!

Because you usually lose the Warranty for most companys.

And the Price is not worth the problems you might have.
