ok so um basically im trying to make a key switch mod for my pc to replace my power button and i was wondering if it would be risky to do it in general

I doubt it would be risky. The worst that could happen is it doesn't work. All you should have to do besides mounting it on your case is to solder the leads that would go to your power button onto the leads from the...switch? Key? You know what I mean.
