Hello Everyone,

I am starting to work on the plans for a new build for a roommate.

Currently, she has gained an interest in playing World of Warcraft, at the moment when she wants to game she has been using my computer.

She has said that she would like to get her own PC and has asked my opinion on various ones she has seen at Walmart, Bestbuy, etc..

I have been honest with her and told her the ones she has shown me have been complete garbage, and overpriced.

I have offered to help her pick out the pieces for a build and help her set it all up.

I am hoping people here can share any insights they may have on the hardware that I have selected as well as any recommendations when it comes to World of Warcraft.

Parts:

  • CPU
    • Ryzen 5 1600
  • Motherboard

  • Case Fans
    • 4 x Corsair - CO-9050016-BLED 120mm

I like it, but I'd go with a B450 motherboard for upgrading to Ryzen 2 later on if she wants more oomph.

You're going to get asked about that PSU... just a heads up :)

If you have a Microcenter near you... That 1600 is $80.

What is the budget?

I assume Monitor and peripherals are also needed?

Having a 980ti lying around gets you a long way :D

650 W seems a bit overkill, consider lower wattage and higher efficiency and quality.

Also a b450 is probably not that much more. Maybe a asrock pro 4.

I have been seeing that as a recommendation for upgrading later on to Ryzen 2. The only reason I dropped to the 350 was how she mentioned being happy with how my pc performs and it is only using a phenom x4 in it, so I was not sure if an upgrade path like that would be needed.

Living where I am the pc stores are overpriced. As for the psu I had three criteria $90 or under before tax,500 watt or greater and at least bronze certified.

I'm not going to get into that she may be happy with a performance when she doesn't know what's better out there... but you understand.

No sense in buying weak stuff when better isn't much more expensive.

Where are you that things are so overpriced? Nm, you answered it.
