What cpu should i get

I have been looking to upgrade my cpu for a while now but i am stuck on what to get. My i5 6600t is not coping with my 1070 and i have been looking to upgrade it to either a ryzen 5 2600 or a ryzen 7 1700. I will be doing light streaming and editing but lots of gaming. Thanks in advance.

EIther chip will be good for streaming & gaming. That said, the extra 2c/4t of the 1700 is nice to have for streaming and you should be able to overclock it to 3.9-4.0 usually. Pair with with 3000 or 3200mhz ram and you have a match made in heaven.

Have to say my 1700 has been a beast for me when streaming is involved... 

 

you could just wait a couple months and grab a 2700 at a knock down price after Zen2 drops
