Quickest CPU for this AMD AM3+ FX mobo?

1 minute ago, CreamyCornCob said:

I've dug around and seeing to many differences of what can and dont work.

The mobo is a Gigabye 78lmt-USB3-R2 https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/GA-78LMT-USB3-R2-rev-10#kf

Processor being used is a AMD FX 8350 Black Edition, works fine.

But can this mobo handle any other faster AMD FX CPU?

Thank you much.

There isn't any faster CPU for that socket, it'll be fine just don't overclock and maybe keep a fan over the VRM.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Very doubtful that it can take a 9370/9590, and something like an 8370 would just be a small clock speed bump. If you want an upgrade, get a ryzen 2600+b450 boqrd instead.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Thank you both for the info. Because the 8370 cpu is there, so that wont work on this board? edit NM on that, its a small clock bump. TY.

And VRM is cooled.

the BIOS on that board will detect you have installed a high TDP chip and refuse to boot, 8370 is the best you could get on it.
