windows 10 GSOD(BSOD) when abruptly removing pen drive

Yongtjunkit

Hi,

I've been noticing lately that when I abruptly remove my Kingston DT101G2 from my laptop USB port, my laptop would GSOD(BSOD), the setting for removal were set to its default( Quick removal). As far as I can tell, this issue seems to be occurring on this specific Pendrive(Kingston DT101G2).

Oddly, in device manager, the Kingston DT101G2 shows up as "USB device " instead of mentioning anything about Kingston with hardware IDs not mentioning about Kingston.

Left window: Kingston DT101G2     Right window: Kingston DT109

Both of the pen drives were from a similar era

Didn’t do that actually, since it’s set to quick removal and was kind of in a hurry so I just removed the pen drive without using safety eject 1st

Unless you are sure that's no activity going in that drive, you can unplug it right away.

But ejecting is the safest.
