Server Migration help

Not sure where exactly in the forum this belongs or if anyone can help me but Im trying to find a windows server migration service that i can use it to migrate Share folders from server 2003 with ntfs permissions to Server 2008 and higher.  Window server migration tools won't work {link} and other services such as Quest's secure copy {link} doesn't support Windows server 2003.  

 

TLDR: Does anyone know of server migration tools that support Windows 2003-2008 and higher.

Don't just migrate data over, redo the structure.

Generally if your on a system that old you don't want to migrate as many things have changed in the time. Your best bet is to completely redo the systems. If you really want to try to migrate directly from 2003, Windows file server migration toolkit 1.2 MIGHT be able to accomplish it. You may have to migrate to 2003 R2 first and then go up the list to the current version of server version by version if the migration tools for each one don't support the earlier ones properly.

thanks for the response, this is for work and Im very new to this.  allegedly file server migration toolkit wont work because something was set up incorrectly and we are trying to avoid completely redo everything.

You could setup the new server, and use Robocopy to copy over the folders/files including the ACL's.
