Linux or Windows 10

Just as usual... planning a system and I have been contemplating Linux over windows. Heres my deciding factors.

 Linux is lighter, can be faster, can bend to my will, and I could sell my distribution.

 

but, it is complex, I have very little experience, the command prompt is a bit confusing(but I could learn) and it is overall more complex.

 

Windows is a bit slower, I have lots of experience, it's a bit heavier, I can work cmd, and it gives you fewer choices and less complex.

But, I do know what to do, it.s very simple, an I have tons of experience.

 

as you can see I'm a bit torn about this because I really want this rig to rock!

Where have you heard Linux is quicker than Windows, I'd love a source on this because it's simply untrue.

 

Windows boots much much much faster than Linux, it feels more responsive when using it and applications also load faster too. I can sometimes wait 5 or so seconds before an application starts booting on Linux.

 

If speed is your main concern is suggest you run a test on your machine and compare results, it's not impossible that you'll get a different result to me but I wouldn't depend on Linux being quicker.

Some of the assumptions are not well founded.

 

A basic Linux distro may be thinner than Windows 10, but toss in a GUI and some matching goodies makes it pretty much as fat as Windows 10. 

 

Some Linux GUI perform worse than Window 10.

 

It's true that most Linux command shells are more powerful than Windows CMD. That is great if you want to write scripts for fun and profit. But if what you really want to do is run applications and games, it makes little difference.

 

Windows 10 has much broader device support. One may have to wait for a Linux device driver but rarely, if ever for a Windows driver.

Do I use it as a desktop everyday?  Nope.  I use Windows because it supports all my games.

 

I'll stick to windows then
