So 2 weeks ago i tried to OC my i7 920 from 3,2 to 3,6 then 4,0 ghz and then i did a Thread burner to se how well it would handle it and how warm it would get, sadly the temps skyrocketed so i tried 3,8 and 3,6 and i droped it back to 3,2.

Anyway, during startup the screen goes blue and does the whole Memory dump thingy and then restarts and then i can choice to either try and "repair" or start normaly.

Dunno if i damaged something but i do know its not a Virus.

The CPU is Passive Watercoold with a Antec Kuhler H2O 620.

I have tried the Repair, System recovery AND a clean Instal of my OS and its still here. soooo yeah did i damage something?

Any suggestions?

Put the fan back onto the radiator! :O Also' date=' use a "fixed" voltage in your bios and monitor that voltage with CPU-Z. You might barely be able to reach 40 with that cooler... You most likely corrupted Windows, either try to boot up normally or re-install Windows. [/quote']

???

You lost me there mate lol

The fan is on obviusly, everything is back on "stock" right now but my temp did hit the 90´s when i tried it at 4,0 ghz with the thread burner (force it to work at max). if i use it casualy im fine.

also i alredy did a clean instal (i did mention it) but that memory dump thing is still there. and yeah i do start windows normaly and ignor the Repair because even if i do the repair it still ask for it every time i boot up.

As for the Voltage, i did push it up by a small margine because otherwise i could not boot the system at all.

Any suggestions on Temp monitor software? i use SpeedFan right now, not sure how accurate it is.

Is it possible i magicaly damaged the Hard Drive?

Maybe i need a new Fan on my Radiator ??it´s still using the Stock fan :p

Well what did you use to overclock it? settings in the Bios or software in windows?

you might have to re-flash the Bios and reset everything to default again, and if its blue screening, its usually a driver change or hardware like momory issue causing it.

A good start is to save all data (back up if possible) reset the Bios or even the Cmos, test the memory.

If it still happens you could have done some damage to any of the components, however i would say blue screen is windows related, check your history did you update or change anything else when you was overclocking.

and a tip for the future just use a reliable overclocking software programme and don't push your system to much.

hope all the above helps...

got to love Asus components

You should change it back to stock and reset bios settings to see if that problem appears. Is it possible to post your mem dump file log? You can find the log in event viewer or using a bsod viewer like this and screenshot the log: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

memodump.png Good Enoth? ill Reset my Bios now and hope for the best.

Causes of 0x00000050:
"The BCCode 50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed
hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).
Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.
Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume."

Are all your drivers up to date? Did you do any hardware changes? Have you ran MemTest86+ ( www.memtest.org) for at least 12 hours to make sure that your ram isn't defective? Did you check your drive using Chkdsk /f /r to detect and repair disk errors?

"Check the System Log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help pinpoint the
device or driver that is causing the error. Disabling memory caching of the BIOS might also resolve it.

Well it looks like im fine now, i removed half the rams and reseted Bios back to Default and it seems to work now.

Huge Thanks to all of you, ill save this topic incase anythinng like this happens again.

Short question while im at it, AsusFan mentiond there are OC Software for CPU so i did a google search and found Intel´s Desktop Control Center, any comments on it? is it good enoth, i do know tinkering in the bios gives the best results if one knows what he/she is doing and im clearly not one of them so i was thinking i could rely on a Software until im more knowladgeable on Bios OC on the CPU.

What is your motherboard? Some motherboards like Asus have AI Suite 2 software to automatically overclock your cpu. Do you have a Intel motherboard because I think this software is for Intel® Desktop Board DX58SO and Intel® Desktop Boards DP55KG or DP55SB. I never used this before so I do not know how good this software is.
