So I decided I need additional 1TB of storage, and these two seems like the best drives that fit in my budget.

In a weird way, the Intel 660p is currently 100-110$ while the Crucial MX500 is 130$.

At first glance, the logic would say go with the NVMe (hell it's even cheaper), but my question is, which will be better in everyday use, and will I even notice the difference?

I currently don't do video editing or transfer large files daily.

I use my PC to play games, browse the internet, and occasional Photoshop and Python/HTML coding.

I think in everyday use I wouldn't feel much of a difference and will have a slightly better experience with the NVMe, as long as I won't transfer 50GB+ files all the time, which will make it run out of cache and slow down significantly.

Am I right, or should I go with the SATA MX500 for a slower but more constant and reliable performance?

Thanks!

(P.S, I plan to use the drive as my boot drive)

660p - Quad Level Cell

MX500 - Tripple Level Cell

In theory the lover level would be more durable. But the higher one deliver more bandwidth.

If you don't need high bandwidth, the sata will do just fine.

Thank you. I am aware that one is QLC and the other MLC.

I actually prefer the 660p, because it's NVMe it'll be easier for me in my case, and it seems it could be better in some situations.

I just wanted to ask if it will be somewhat worse than the MX500, or for sure at least the same if not better.

It looks bad in the linus video, it has sudden drops when the cache is used up.

and the speed is comparable to a regular hdd.

i don't think its a good buy.
