New rig, tips+advice req

Go to solution Solved by eira,

This is what I'd recommend since it's both cheaper and more powerful than the build in your original post.

As my old PC died, looking to replace it.  Mainly used for gaming and streaming with 2/3 monitors, any input on optimizing would be helpful

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YnLm9J

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($179.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($95.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB VENTUS XS OC Video Card  ($279.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Fractal Design - Define C ATX Mid Tower Case  ($93.32 @ Walmart)
Power Supply: Corsair - RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($73.98 @ Newegg)

Storage: Western Digital - Blue 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive  ($109.89 @ OutletPC)

or
Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive  ($263.69 @ Amazon)

For these im wondering why the price is so different, as rating seem the same so wondering if theres a reason to go for the 970 evo?

And with this CPU should i get a separate cooler? Or is the stock cooler good enough.

Also getting a compatibility note that "When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled." Is this something that is actually to consider? Or is it an issue that you'll hit only if you have enough to fill the slots?

i would personally go for B450 Tomahawk 2060 or 1660 with 1TB sata 3 if youre gaming youre not going to notice any difference, except boot drive and moving files just go for 550W its more than enough. I would just buy the 2600 with a quiter CPU cooler.

the ssd's are different prices because the samsing one is MUCH faster, more reliable, better software, (and samsung brand tax).

for storageoptions, i suggest getting a small (about 128 or 256 gb) fast ssd, and then get a large 7200rpm hdd or get a large slow ssd (which will still be faster than hdd)

M.2 SATA vs M.2 NVMe running PCIe x4, I think not. WD's competitor is the Black SSD and SN750.

Also as far as the 970 Evo's considered, the Adata SX8200/SX8200 Pro are just too close but much cheaper, making them pretty bad buys.

it's talking about the second and third (if applicable) M.2 slots. There's one dedicated slot that doesn't affect anything else when used.

This looks pretty solid, so most likely going to go with this.

That makes a lot more sense then, good to know for the future, thanks!

And thanks to all of you for the quick input, really helpful.
