Any simple clue why Video editing software does not take webm video files?

you just need the proper codec for w/e program you're using. Webms until lately have been a pretty niche format, so platforms havent really needed to focus on them a whole lot, and its much easier to leave it to third party codec developers rather than integrate it into source.
