Laptop not using dedicated graphics, help

I need help, my laptop (Dell Latitude E6540) won't switch to the Radeon HD 8790m graphics, in any application, running the OEM drivers (which can't update for complicated reasons), even when the application is set to high performance, any idea how to fix this?

I'm not sure what the radeon control panel looks like but I don't think thats AMD's drivers

Use DDU and get the newer ones

I can't use the newer drivers, my PC's display just freezes after installing them, and I can't flash the BIOS, since it was locked with a passcode by the previous owner. The only drivers that have worked are the OEM ones from Dell themselves

I found this working for some people on another forum

Follow the steps to open the “Catalyst Control Center” and to switch the graphic card.

Right click on the Screen.

Select “Catalyst Control Center” from the list.

Select “Browse” and check if the game or the application that you are using is listed in the page. If the application or game is not listed, browse for it on the computer under the “Other Applications” area and click “Browse”.

Steps to assign applications to GPUs:

In either Standard View or Advanced View, click “Power “à “Switchable Graphics”.

Check that the application for which you want to assign a GPU is listed in the page. If it is not listed, click “Browse” in the “Other Applications” area to browse for and select the application; it is added to the list. Only one application can appear in the “Other Applications” list at a time.

Click the GPU selection button next to the application to select the appropriate GPU.

Click “Apply”.

When applications are started, they run on their assigned GPUs. For applications that do not have an assigned GPU, a message dialog box may appear prompting you to select one. In this case, click “Configure” in the dialog box to select the appropriate GPU.

I don't have radeon so I don't know if things have changed but this should give you an idea of what to look for.

I've tried this (see original pictures), it still seems to want to use the Intel HD Graphics, even if set to high performance, but thanks

Also, is there no option to actually select the gpu? from what I read it seemed like you could select the GPU name, not just high performance?

they're super cut couldn't tell where it was from, what about windows graphics settings? it's similar

You should be able to use newer driver right?

Can you check if there is an option for fixed graphic switching in BIOS?
