I popped into a shop in London looking for one as they were listed on their site. Sadly out of stock. Instead the sold me a brand new Wraith Prism for £15. Apparently they had quite a few kicking around so are selling them cheap. Slapped it in and the difference is amazing. Almost inaudible at idle, unlike my original cooler and even under load is very quiet. The RGB looks good too, not that I am into that kind of thing. Having said that my daughter wants me to put some more RGB fans in the case.

Just built a system with a Ryzen and used its stock cooler. Quite a noisy beast, something which surprised me. What is the best low cost but quiet option to replace it with? Not too bothered about over clocking performance, just want a nice stable and quiet cooler.

What kind of cooler clearance do you have?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Should be plenty height wise but width wise the stock cooler is quite close to the case fan in my Corsair carbide 100r case.

sorry for taking so long to respond, playing with my new toy. One forgets how long windoze takes to setup and update especially so as I work in a unix/Linux environment at work.

Build is a Gigabyte Aurus X370 Ultra with a Ryzen 2700 and 2*16gb Corsair Vengence sticks. I have an RTX2060 Gigabyte Windforce and all in a Corsair Carbide 100r case. Not planned or OC as for my needs it seems to be working fine speed wise.

Thanks for the tip on quoting. Not used this particular forum software before and it took me two attempts to work out how.

Something wrong with your mount causing the fan to run @ 100% only? (what are your temps idle?)

The Wraith coolers they ship out with the Ryzen line up are the bees knees for stock coolers.  Ive got 2 different ones and both are the best Ive ever pulled out of a box.

Or your fan is bad, send an email and get them to replace it!

Temps are excellent thanks. The fan is off balance slightly, minor engineering fault. I would return it but the hassle of RMA is just not worth the effort or my time. I guarantee the dealer will want the whole box including the cpu posted back. So easiest to just order a new cooler. I do work in IT, just in high end kit costing millions so am very out of touch with current consumer products. So my question was more to find out what are considered decent, quiet and at a decent price.

Overall I am very happy with my new build. Probably should have gone with a better case but did rush that bit. Most cases I looked at didn’t have front bays for a card reader or optical drove, and I needed those. Shame as many of the gaming cases look great and seem to be very well designed

Yup, they are terrible coolers, despite what the so called "Tech press" have to say. I think they're all deaf to be honest.

If you want something really cheap, get a Raijintek Aidos and a Noctua Redux 92mm fan to go with it. That combo is almost as good, thermally speaking, as my Cryorig Quad Lumi, which is a 120mm cooler.
