1080ti issues

My Asus Strix 1080ti has recently started to whine/buzz under load, it slowly gets louder the longer it’s under load.

 

Anyone been able to fix it themselves or should I send it in for warranty

If it's under warranty go through Asus. Anything you could do would likely void the warranty.

Depends, if ASUS screws around in customer service and warranty. Heard stories about RMAs and Warranty replacements. Didn't go so well, so like any others driven by fear... I stayed away from ASUS.

Could try rma. Or just deal with it. 

Or try a better psu.

The psu is a Corsair RM1000x,

 

it will be be the last Asus item I ever buy, iv had nothing but issues with them lately

Seems to be everyones go to answer. Ive never had an issue my self. I need to watch some videos of coil whine, still don't know what it sounds like.

It can be annoying, the only time I had hardware whine was on an extremely specific situation, whenever I launched The Witcher 3 on the initial loading of game before the main menu my old TITAN X Maxwell would whine like hell and it certainly was annoying.

 

Thankfully that was the only moment for whatever reason, if it happened often though I could see myself getting fed up with it, about RMA'ing due to coil whine though as far as I'm concerned unless it's EVGA you're likely to have a bad time managing the replacement... Specially if it's ASUS... their RMA/Costumers Service really is lackluster sadly...

so i tried another 1080ti this time a gigabyte extreme one, the coil whine was just as bad could it be the psu instead it is a corsair RM1000x 3 years old now

when i start to limit fps i tested this in borderlands 2 i started at 500fps it was loud as and when i drop it down to 30fps its fully gone

Which would explain what you just did. 30 frames isn’t enouhh use to effect the inductors obviously. 

 

Id still try another psu as the Ltt video suggests.

I used my friends 2080 that had no noise in his system but did in mine so yeah 

 

which power supply would be good though 

 

currently got Corsair RM1000x

Just filled puller psu out of the case and it’s deffs coming from GPU even with this 2080 I’m it

looking at this one "SeaSonic 850W Prime Platinum Modular Power Supply" the corsair one is 4 years old

Any thing that isn’t the same brand. Idk what people are getting nowadays. 

I got an evga unit. Not a lot of options for me.
