HTPC remote/mouse/keyboard question

On my HTPC I have 2 receivers I use one is for a full on wireless Logitech keyboard and separate mouse for if I have to do some serious typing on the TV...like hardly ever.

 

I also use a Logitech K400+ keyboard/mousepad combo

 

They both work great, the K400+ is excellent!  But Ive been eyeballing these chinesium keypads for a while...and @ $9 Im tempted to try one out.  Are they worth it?

The only reason is, the keyboard mouse combo takes up to much space on my counter.  The K400+ is kind of in the same boat with looking for a smaller footprint for it when not in use.

No they absolutely suck. Although it’s not very expensive, you will be spending a lot of money to try and find one that doesn’t suck. Lenovo makes a good handheld one that I used to use a while back. I now have the controls configured on my Harmony remote so I barely need a M/K for general windows navigation.

There is a newer model with a backlit keyboard, but it seems to have gone up in price considerably since I last looked at it, and I cannot recommend it for the current asking price.

i used a visiontek one for about 6 mo on my htpc...it worked very well

Do you like that one?  I was hesitant on it for sure based on the $30 and if it didn't work it would be a huge waste.  Range acceptable?  Input lag?  Does each key respond on the first touch (I.E. Ive had these were if it wasn't pointed at the right angle, and you didn't stand on one leg while pinching your butt then push the button...you know what I mean lol) - depending on what you say I may forgo the cheapo chinesium unit in front of me and try that one - I like the Remote Control design.

well i was using it about 14 feet away and no issues, even if it wasnt pointed at comp..it was good response even the touch pad...one thing, its not very big lol..the keys think of the old blackberry's that had keypads...the keys are just a touch bigger, so fat fingers will double key
oh and they are prime so if you dont like it its a easy return

Thank you for your time...Ill show the wife and let her choose I dont NEED one but the remote style is honestly...more hidden I guess (I run my HTPC off a microform factor so you don't even know a PC is in the room lol its on the vesa mount, until I start using a mouse)
