Inkjet or Laser

Are there any benefits of using one or the other? I have been using an Inkjet printer for most of my life and never encountered any problems with it.

You'll buy an inkjet printer and end up spending the same amount as a laser after your ink dries out

When you say no problems, you don't count dried useless ink, clogged nozzles, or vastly inconsistent spray as problems?  Had all those personally, but I will admit the newer inkjets are much better than they were 30 or even 20 years ago.  

 

Still, laser and its toner is the way to go really.

 

But if you already have inkjet and are seriously not having any problems.... no need to change.

It's really relative to how well you maintain it.

If it's left to sit for, sometimes, as little as a couple of weeks unused, inkjet have been known to develop clogs in the jets. It's a regular occurrence my house. Fortunately, my heads are easy to remove for cleaning. Not all printers are natively this easy though.

If you're a casual/infrequent user, my vote will go to laser every single time.

You couldn't give me an inkjet for anything other than target practice. While laser printers and their toner cartridges cost more upfront, they are less epensive to use per page than inkjets, even if you use the inkjet often enough to avoid head clogging.

 

About the only advantage an inkjet has over a laser is printing photo prints. Even then, unless you print photos frequently, it's much less expensive to just put your photos on an optical disk or USB stick and take them to a photo processor and let them print them for you.
