Apple Vs Qualcomm

I just saw that apple and qualcomm just came to an agreement,and apple paid qualcomm a undisclosed amount and came to a agreement,that apple will still be using qualcomms modems,thoughts?

Not sure where you read that the Apple/Qualcomm case was settled. Just yesterday it was published that they hadn't so much as spoken in court yet.

 

But, assuming you're correct; the answer is probably. It was reported, though never confirmed, that Apple was nerfing the Qualcomm equipped phones to be in line with Intel ones for speed to avoid a lawsuit of Apple violating contracts and favoring one carrier over another. Though this has never been officially confirmed or denied, it certainly has facts behind it. Qualcomm has a leg up on Intel in cellular modems, and with Apple already ditching Intel in the CPU space for its Mac computers I think Apple would be biting off a lot more than it can chew by ditching both of its largest suppliers at once.

Some further research has proven that the verge simply copy pasted an Apple Newsroom article, but both are correct.

 

Intel also seems to have dipped out of the 5G modem business, so I can say with rather firm defiance that yes, Apple will continue to use Qualcomm parts.

 Faster data transfer speeds where 5G is available. But, it doesn't matter for me since 5G wont be within 4 hours of me by 2021
