Platinum efficiency PSU, and find the efficiency curve of a given unit so that your load wattage is at the most efficient point. Reduce the voltage of the components you use so that they draw less power.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

for example using a 550w psu for a rig that only requires 350w or using the exact wattage that the pc needs. or will only the bronze rating make a difference?

80 bronze only guarantee 80 efficient on 20%~100% load, but very often at 50% will reach 90%

look for some 80 bronze psu, which clams it is 90% efficient at 50% load.

if your PC use 400w load, get 800W of that PSU

titanium*

but that's going to hurt your wallet if you want a good one

i would just get something around the wattage you ACTUALLY need and take the best unit for your money, without worrying about effecientcy

God fucking dammit. This moronic shit again.
I can't even be bothered, someone else take this one please.

What are your system specs? What will you be using your PC for? How many hours a day will it be on? What model is your current PSU?
Chances are efficiency of the unit between say an 80+Bronze and 80+Gold won't make any appreciable difference to your power bill, at least not that would justify the upfront cost of buying a more expensive PSU.
Considering in another thread a few weeks ago you said you have an AMD RX550 and do light gaming, I can guarantee that the system isn't using 350W. More like less than 150W while the system is under load. So you should be looking at 450w (or 400W) units, since anything below that tends to be junk. Be Quiet Pure Power 11 400W is an affordable 80+ gold rated unit. Bitfenix Formula 450W is another affordable 80+ Gold unit. Even if those are outside of your budget I honestly think you'd be fine with 80+ Bronze, like a Corsair CX450.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

For low loads, the Cooler Master V-550 (the old one, with 4 Drive Connectors).

And since there are no good, high quality 350W PSU on the market, that's not an option.

Decent ones start at 400 or 450W, more often though 550W.

So with that, the Cooler Master is one of the best choices for low load efficiency.

There is no reason to do that.

Also we had a discussion about efficiency recently.

With more modern Designs, its bullshit to claim "Peak Efficiency"; and more bullshit to claim 50%.

The Truth is that many modern PSU reach a high efficiency that's inside the precision of the measurement equipment (around 0,5% or less) between 30-60% load, some even 70%.

So the "50%" thing is just a fairy tale based on 3 measuring points.

Feel free to look at the testing results over here, to get an idea of how wrong you are

No 80+ Bronze rated PSU claims that. If someone wants an efficient PSU, they should get an efficient PSU, not a high wattage one.

What's more efficient? An 80+ Titanium rated PSU at 100% load, or an 80+ rated PSU at 50% load? Check the link and the requirements to find out.

Could you find me an example of an 800W 80+ Bronze rated PSU that claims to be 90% efficient at 50% load?

:)

Just want to make sure you're aware that a PSU only puts out as much power as what's demanded of it.

FYI:  The most efficient PSUs are going to be PSUs that are made to meet the new Intel 1.4x design guide.  These are minimum Gold rated PSUs that have 70% efficiency down to 2% load.
