So here's my current build. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gyc7xG
I'm looking to upgrade the CPU to something better suited towards gaming and looking to upgrade the RAM to DDR4 which will also means upgrading the MoBo.

Money isn't TOO much of an issue so I'd like to go high end but without pointlessly breaking the bank like I did originally with this build. Suggestions?

Intel 8700k or 9600k, z370 mobo, ddr4 ram that's around 3000 to 3200 mhz if you want something more gaming oriented. An AMD 2700 or 2700x + x470 mobo if you want something more workstation oriented.

You also might need to replace that cpu cooler if you want more overclocking headroom.

Another option is to wait till AMD announces the Ryzen 3000 series in a couple months and see how that compares to the current ryzen and intel processors.

If you're only doing 60hz gaming your CPU should still be fine

DDR4 isn't going to make a different for anything by itself.

I'd try to wait for Ryzen 3000 coming soonish. If nothing else it should cause intel's current pricing to drop a bit.

Otherwise if you just need to have the best, then buy a 9900K with an EVGA Z390 motherboard, and like a noctua D-15 or some other large air cooler.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

You swung an RTX 2080 in there mate. Get a 9700k or 9900K and just don't worry about your rig for a couple years. There are other options, of course there are, but if you can manage a 2080, make it work to go equally high end on your CPU.
