Hi guys, I could really use some help with my next upgrade for my PC. I recently got my motherboard and GPU so I don't want to change them for a 2 years.

This is my current PC the GPU price isn't showing but it shouldn't matter, the only things not included are the case and case fans. I'm currently using this PC as my main rig to game and edit, its hitting all my gaming needs with ease haven't had to turn down settings for 1080p so I'm guessing a 75hz monitor would be a good choice since the games I play mostly are games like DMC 5, Re2, Tomb raider and AC. The case is a budget case I bought from a local store years ago, air flow on it is bad to the point I have to the side panel with the window removed to keep the CPU (CPU oc to  and GPU under 80c under heavy loads like blender and short 10 minute 4k videos scaled down to 1080p. My Ram was 2400mhz but oc to 2800mhz timings haven't changed. My budget should be around £400 but if necessary I can go to £500 but would like to keep it under £400, side note I intend to buy everything at the end of the month I am willing to save to save a little longer and spend more if that would give me the best performance and value.

Thank you to anyone that tries to help me.

What exactly are you asking?

What do you want to upgrade?

What are your goals for the new hardware? If it's just a 75 mhz monitor, your current gear is fine.

I'm asking what to upgrade a part from my motherboard and gpu, I would like lower thermals while having my case closed so I don't have to hear my gpu (sounds like a jet taking off when under load). I want to change the case, get new fans, monitor not sure if i need 144hz TN or 75 IPS (144hz IPS cost to much), My CPU doesn't seem to hold me back but getting a  R7 2700 might be a good choice since its on sale but then I would need a new cooler etc. I'm piratically doing a new build it seems and I'm not sure what to upgrade with my first budget of £400 to £500.

Basically I'm asking which part to upgrade first? (What would give me better thermals, performance and reduce noise)

What would be themost logically choice to make? Reduce thermals by upgrading the case, case fans and cooler and then wait a bit longer to upgrade my CPU and monitor or the other way around?

I would recommend that you don't break up your storage like that, as it can get confusing for you. Just get a good budget SSD like this one and partition it. The same goes for the HDD, but I don't have a good recommendation at the moment.

Edit: Also, you could do with a processor upgrade, but if you can't afford that it's fine.

Current PC (Second Build) : CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 (OC @3.8GHz, sometimes pushed to 4GHz) RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4-2666 (OC @2733Mhz, sometimes pushed to 2800 for testing purposes)   GPU: PowerColor Radeon RX570 8gb MOBO: ASRock B450m Pro4 SSD: Inland 120gb HDD: 1tb Seagate Barracuda PSU: Cooler Master Masterwatt 500w Lite Case: NZXT H500 OS: Arch Linux+ KDE Plasma [Desktop Environment] & Windows 10 Pro [Broken due to grub 50% of the time]

Accessories: Mouse: Alienware AW958 Elite Keyboard: Corsair K63 Wireless  Headphones: Samsung Level On Pro

Phone (waiting on arrival): Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The power supply needs to change, that thing won't last long with Vega 56 in there. I also added a silverstone case, because silverstone specialise in airflow with their raven cases:

Here is a full overhaul of your PC, minus upgrading the GPU and Motherboard, I did this list pretty quickly so if there are any other changes any of my fellow amigos here think need to be made go for it. If cpu cooling is also a must you could upgrade to a Dark Rock Pro 4 or Corsair H100i Pro for $40 more and the Ryzen 7 2700 would also be $40 more over the 2600x. Obviously there isn't a new monitor in the list but if it were me I would like to have my performance upgraded before anything else.

Main Desktop: CPU - i9-14900k | Mobo - Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | GPU - PNY Gaming OC RTX 5080 16GB RAM - Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 64GB 6400mhz | AIO - Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360mm | PSU - Corsair RM1000X | Case - Hyte Y40 - White | Storage - Samsung 980 Pro 1TB Nvme /  Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 4TB Nvme / Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB Nvme / Samsung 870 EVO 4TB SSD / Samsung 870 QVO 2TB SSD/ Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SSD|

TV Streaming PC: Intel Nuc CPU - i7 13th Gen | RAM - 16GB DDR4 3200mhz | Storage - Crucial P3 Plus 1TB Nvme |

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra - Black 256GB |

I mean... The 2600X isn't a vast improvement from your current 1600... That's a waste. In my personal opinion your current system is fine. If you wanna quiet it down, consolidate your HDDs into a large SSD. They do tend to make some noise and with 4 of them you're drawing weird power you don't need to. SSDs are silent.

If you did get a case with good built in airflow or as above some very quiet fans to improve what's there, your GPU shouldn't need to work as hard on cooling. Further, you could get a program like AMD OverDriver and control the speeds in your current GPU. Be careful, though. You need to keep on top of it under load.

The 2600x is around a 13-15% increase in performance. Yes it's not a big jump up but it's enough to justify the price difference of $40 between the two, plus second gen is considerably more rounded. They were pretty vague on exactly what they wanted to upgrade so I did a full rebuild based around their current gpu and motherboard while staying fairly close to their budget.
