The colored stripes are on a metal plate that is attached to the heat sink. There was a build log on this forum where he took the plates off and had plain black heatsinks. It looked amazing! So yes it is possible. Be sure to test the board throughoutly though before removing them since you will not be able to return it

Why don't you go with MSIs gaming motherboard lineup i think you will like that better
