My first build

I am currently planning out my first build. I know its very overkill for my first computer, but other than that is there any recommended changes? I originally planned on getting a 2070 or 2080 but I was scared away by all the reports of them failing.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. With the help that was provided, I ended up with a very similar performance PC. Even after upgrading the monitors the revised rig is still $500-600 cheaper

at this point it's better to deal with the risk and RMA if needed. The prices of older Nvidia cards raised to unreasonable levels if you buy new.

Motherboard is too expensive, and what are you going to do  with 2x tubes of thermal paste on top of what's pre-applied on the cooler?  It doesn't work as lube, trust me,

 

2080Ti is way too much for 1080p gaming, even 144Hz.

why the heck do you need 32gb of RAM? You also don't need 750w of power.

 

I might be behind on tech news but the only RTX cards that had lots of people talking about them failing was the 2080 Ti

makes me think of my friend who said "yeah I put 9 grains of rice on my fx 6300" and now theres thermal paste in the socket and on the pins and the PC wont POST.

I kinda got overexcited when I first started the list. Now that I think about it I already have 16gb of trident z RGB in my current rig (SI). So i could pay half the price for the same result. Also what kind of wattage would you recommend.

650 is fine, and provides a little extra power just in case.

I planned on just having some around in the case I ever need it in the event I screw something up.

A single tube is a good handful of applications, getting two will last you a super long time. I've got yet to deplete my first tube of MX-4

Yeah, I added those at the beginning of my quest before my research, now I realize how little you actually use. I guess I just never revisited it.

Also, with a 2080Ti you need to be at 1440p.  Ultrawide if you want to go that route as well.

 

Your whole build kind of needs a redo.  $3600 be much better spent, if not under $3000.

I meant just the RTX 2080, not 2080ti

At least throw in a nice 360mm AIO when spending this money. Will benefit the OC on the 8700k.

 

you could also go with a Z370 board to save some bucks

I originally planned on using an AIO but saw that the ll120 doesn't have very good static pressure. I'm kind of in love with the look of the fan and want my case fans to match so I'm not sure. Would there be a benefit of throwing some static pressure fans on the back out of sight in combination with the ll120s?
