Well technically Scotland is not ruled the same as England is

It's ruled the same, it's just not governed the same. Same head of state, different government, although British PM still outranks the head of the Scottish assembly. Point is, you can vote on English laws whilst people in England can't vote on Scottish laws, yet the prevailing view seems to be that Scotland is somehow getting the raw deal in that arrangement.

Practically the whole of the UK has different kinds of exams

Yeah, Wales and Northern Ireland have different exams too lol

Also who is the head of state?

Her Royal Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions beyond the Seas Queen, Defender of the Faith, Duchess of Edinburgh, Countess of Merioneth, Baroness Greenwich, Duke of Lancaster, Lord of Mann, Duke of Normandy, Sovereign of the Most Honourable Order of the Garter, Sovereign of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Sovereign of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, Sovereign of the Most Illustrious Order of Saint Patrick, Sovereign of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Sovereign of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Sovereign of the Distinguished Service Order, Sovereign of the Imperial Service Order, Sovereign of the Most Exalted Order of the Star of India, Sovereign of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire, Sovereign of the Order of British India, Sovereign of the Indian Order of Merit, Sovereign of the Order of Burma, Sovereign of the Royal Order of Victoria and Albert, Sovereign of the Royal Family Order of King Edward VII, Sovereign of the Order of Merit, Sovereign of the Order of the Companions of Honour, Sovereign of the Royal Victorian Order, Sovereign of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem.

Pretty sure that's her full official title, but she's also head of the Commonwealth and is therefore queen of all those countries too, including Australia, Canada and New Zealand. I was going to list all of them just to be a dick like I did with the titles, but then I realised there's like 100 of them and I cba lol. Basically the "British Dominions beyond the Seas" includes a lot of places...

She's also the Admiral of Nebraska in the USA. Which is strange because Nebraska is a landlocked state with no navy...

Oh yeah I'm just getting all of this in in case you lot all bugger off. You're British for now at least xD

Technically you'll still be British even if you do leave, cos I mean you'll still live on the island of Great Britain - heck, you'll probably still even use the same currency from what I've heard. Scottish banknotes with the Queen of England's face on them could be interesting lol

We would not use the same currency that has already been decided and we would not be British at all if we are not part of the UK, also Scotland never really accepted the rule of England so that is another problem

Hi guys just wanted to know if anyone else will be sitting the new National 4/5 exams in Scotland, also comment if you are doing the highers haha

What is this madness. In my day we had standard grades and we just began transitioning into intermediate level.

Glad to hear that highers and advanced highers still exist though.

i thought the UK had the same level of education

Although we have different exams the same weight is usually put behind them. Personally I think the whole thing is a mess and seems unnecessary.

...Point is, you can vote on English laws whilst people in England can't vote on Scottish laws, yet the prevailing view seems to be that Scotland is somehow getting the raw deal in that arrangement.

...

The "raw deal" does not come form having our own devolved parliament or indeed the fact that England does not, it comes down simply to the fact that we have very little say on British matters. Many times in our countries history (UK, just to clarify) Scottish voters have voted in the opposite direction to English ones. This creates a situation where the elected Government does not fairly represent Scotland and her interests. For example, the Scottish fishing industry received a huge blow upon our entry into the EU. For the United Kingdom, this wasn't too much of hit (Scottish fishing being a tiny portion of the overall economic situation) but it was a huge blow to Scotland. Many people lost their jobs and the Scottish economy took a hit. If Scotland had a fairer say in British policies this would never have happened.

Now I do agree that it is unfair that England does not have its own devolved parliament as the other constituent countries do, its really not as bad as the situation of us Scots. The Westminster parliament consists of 650 members. 59 from Scotland, 18 from Northern Ireland, 40 from Wales and 533 from England. This is undemocratic and unfair towards the other people of the United Kingdom.

Also im sure there was a referendum on the English parliament issue and the idea was rejected, I could be wrong though.

... Scottish banknotes with the Queen of England's face on them could be interesting lol

By Queen of England you mean Queen of the United Kingdom of England, Wales and Northern Ireland   - or whatever her titles would be amended to.

Also she would still be Queen of Scotland. We have no intention of removing her as head of state.

As for the currency situation: The SNP argue that the currency does not belong to England or any other single constituent country and that we (Scotland) have a fair claim to continue using it. Not sure where i stand on this though.

Oh really? I was under the impression the SNP were going for a republic and didn't want the Queen as head of state... I don't mind being corrected on that though. It's all a mess; personally I hope the referendum results in a "no" for Scottish independence and then we get a "yes" for leaving the EU, since I wholeheartedly agree that EU membership has been disastrous for all concerned - especially for Scotland and Northern England. If the Scots really want their independence they can have it, and if they then leave the EU I'll probably come up and join them!
