Sata to mSata help

NonStandardUser

I bought this sata to msata converter, and I happily plugged a sata 7-pin data cable to the converter then plugged the converter into my mainboard. I was aware that this converter was only gonna support data transfer, so ofc I got the sata drive's 15pin connected to my PSU. Then I boot up to my bios and go into storage devices and... <mSATA1: NOT DETECTED>.

I saw the 3.3V and GND pin that looked like I needed to connect so I try going at it with aluminum foil. Still no luck.

Should I try soldering this for real or is there anything else I should try? I will try contacting the company that imported(and hopefully designed) this thing, but I fear for the most unwanted answer that they could say: "we don't know".

So want to get some help from the gurus out there. Help!

Do I understand this right, you tried to connect 3.3V to GND?

If so, that's not a good idea since it will short out the 3.3V!! That could most definitely fry the motherboard and also the drive connected to the adapter.
