Running Open Case / Side Panel Safe For GPU Temps?

My GPU is Verticality mounted within the case but this means it’s right up to the glass side panel with only a very small space in between. 

 

This means the GPU fans are blowing straight at the glass. 

 

Is it safe to leave the Glass Side Panel off completely?

 

I would ofc use some compressed air to get rid of any dust build up but this should then immensely help the GPU breathe?

Yes, it would be like an open test bench then.  Better than starving them for air.  Btw, the fans are sucking air from, not blowing air at the glass, they blow air onto the heatsink on the card.

Ah ok, so they blow in, then it shouldn’t really impact the the GPU?

 

Or would this still be an issue?

 

there is a large fan directly above the GPU and also 2 huge ones at the front. 

 

Just looking for best suggestions on what to do.

Just how much room is there between the GPU and the glass panel?

 

If it's too close, the fans can't pull enough air from around them.  You want around an inch or so, give or take.  The other fans are nice to create movement as well.

Probably between 1.5-2.5cm 

 

If the GPU was struggling, I’d hear it crank up the fans right? - and this would be extra noticeable if it was doing it early on?

 

When in gaming they hardly ever speed up to max - so this would be a noticeable difference if there wasn’t enough air getting in now that is Vertical?

Yeah, just monitor temps and see where they are at idle, gaming, stress test, etc.

 

You may have enough room to only incur a couple degrees of increased temperature, should be fine.

Which software is the best to track temps and clock speeds?

 

Is there a certain temp the GPU shouldn’t be going over?

I use HWINFO64 and MSI Afteburner.  I like to stay in the low 70's during gaming, peaking in the high 70's.  You may hit 80 or so during gaming, not really an issue.

 

HWINFO64 for all if its sensors and MSI Afterburner for setting fans curves and power usage and temp max.

So MSI Afterburner can record temps in the background while playing and so you know over a 2 hour period what the temps were?
