Laptop backlight not working.

I have a 6 year old Samsung ATIV book 4, 2 years ago it was stepped on, so i replaced the screen with one from ebay, now the backlight has stopped working, i can see whats on screen if i shine i bright light at it, but it is very dim. This isn't the typical cable ware, i have disassembled it, layed around with the cable, nothing happened, not even a flicker, but then, after transporting it, closed, i opened it, turned it on, and the backlight worked just fine for about 2 months, now i closed it, opened it again, and the backlight is not working, again. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Backlights are scary in laptops (especially older ones) because they are high voltage. Poking around with a broken backlight can be very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. I would try replacing the screen again instead of trying to fix the backlight.

This one isn't that bad, it is a 720p TN panel + i use rubber gloves while dealing with computers, for ESD purposes. I don't want to invest in another display, because this laptop has reached the end of its life , i am looking for a possible, cheap solution.

If you REALLY want to, find the backlight driver. It's usually encased in clear plastic to prevent you from poking about it. That driver is either damaged, or the connection between the driver and the backlight is damaged. Make sure to unplug everything and short out any capacitors or you may end up on the floor 20ft from where you were sititng.

Now of course, if it uses LED backlights, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. And there probably isn't a backlight driver in that case. In which, you would probably just need to replace the whole display again.
