Hello folks,
This forums have been a great source of information, so I feel like asking for advice here regarding the build I'm planning to get.

1. Budget & Location

I'm based in France, but ok to buy peices in Switzerland or Germany or wherever.
My budget is 1000 Euros for now, but I plan to top it with 100 Euros every six month or so.

2. Aim

It will be used mainly for work: graphic design, web development, some 3D printing and 1080p video editing. I work on MacOS.
Occasional gaming, but not necessarily the newest ones. I play on Windows.

3. Monitors

Happy with my Samsung 32" 2560 x 1440 (native res, the max my current computer can handle)

4. Peripherals

I already have keyboard, mouse, and Windows and MacOS.

5. Why are you upgrading?

I'm currently working on my mid 2010 MacBook Pro, upgraded with 8 Go 1067 MHz DDR3 (I think it's the maximum) and an SSD (and the HDD in the place of the disk drive).

It is ok for most of the things I do, but it is impossible to manage my video footage. It crashes from time to time for no reason.

Build idea

As mentioned above, this build is a starting point because today I only have 1000 Euros. I'll later add some components as I get some money to invest in it.

I plan to build a Hackintosh compatible machine, following the guides available here and there (If you know better places I'm interested). I need MacOS for some specific apps and because I like to work on it. I prefer to play on Windows because games run faster, and because needing a reboot keeps me from playing while I work!

Peices

Type Item Price Seller
CPU i7-9700K 430 €
CPU Cooler Noctua U14S 70 €
Motherboard Asus PRIME Z390-P 133 €
Memory Crucial 1x16Go* 95 €
Storage Samsung SSD 860 EVO 250Go** 56 €
Video Card XFX Radeon RX 570 RS Black Edition 8 Go 137 €
Case Corsair Carbide SPEC-05*** 51 €
Power Supply corsair cx550m 68 €
  Total 1 040 €

* I plan to add another 16Go pretty quickly, and one more next year, until reaching 64.

** It seems easier to install MacOS on those SATA SSD, but I'm also looking to acquire a M.2 soon.

*** I prefer minimalistic case, but I don't really care...

Thanks for your feedback :)
Cheers!

Well everything looks just fine with your build, I see nothing wrong with it, might wanna buy the 8700 (non-k) instead though because the Z390-P is not gonna overclock well, keep the Z390-P though even if you're installing a non-overclockable CPU because Z390 has benefits obviously.

Up to you really but i'm only nitpicking at this point.

and with the remaining money get the RX 580 or a 1TB 860 EVO, just an idea

For your purchase, the 1000ordi (.ch) shop in Geneva could be great a great place (but cannot ship outside switzerland), you will benefit the low swiss VAT (I was a french worker in Geneva, and it was my favourite shop ever).

If you check components at tonymacx ,so it should be almost perfect, i would just suggest you to look what could be possible with a nvidia card instead of the crappy amd (you can install macos and windows with the integrated intel gpu, test if it's enough for your macos task, and then install a nvidia, maybe it will be for few weeks/months unusable under macos (but for office web task and some video editing, the intel gpu is already more than enough under macos), and enjoy a trully powerful gpu card, consuming less power and generating much less heat, for play under windows). Another solution to get a poweful nvidia card to work under macos would be to install high sierra and not mojave..

i used a desktop hackintosh for many years, in that time i took a i7 ”k” too, but the truth is without a watercooling system, i could only overclock few %, and i agree with previous comment advising you to take a standard (but already powerful) i7, the saved money could be used to go with a second ssd (256gb for macos and windows.. if you don’t speak about game, it could be ok, but you speak about playing, and you will really need at least a 256gb windows drive (or 512 if you play many games), i was about to suggest a 1to samsung 860 evo (should be find for about 100€), but for a dual boot with clover.. maybe 2 separated drive would be “more safe”..

last point, are your sure you a 2x8gb ram dual channel pack would offer you more power ? you can still go to 32 later (with another 2x8gb)...

Those are great advices, thank you!

I guess I’ll go for the i7 8700 “non-k”. I’ve been reading about cooler for this one and might go for a 212X.

@ThAnEb if I understand well it means I can priorities and first get the parts for the “Work station”, and later get the parts for the “Play station” (the GPU card and the dedicated SSD)? What you write gives me a good perspective on the nVidia issues with Hackintosh :)

These new direction saves some money. I might use it on some extra RAM (2x16Go, as I want to make it as evolutive as possible while keeping most of the inital parts, if that makes sense?), and maybe a bigger SSD.

After double checking and Hackintosh compatibility, stores stocks and prices, I came up with the following list:

Type Item Price Seller
CPU i7-8700 322 €
CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212X 33 €
Motherboard Gigabyte Z370 HD3 AORUS GAMING 7 162 €
Memory Ballistix Sport LT 16Go DDR4 2400 MHz 92 €
Storage MacOS Samsung 970 Evo 500Go SSD (NVMe) M.2 117 €
Storage Win Samsung 860 EVO 500Go SSD 80 €
Video Card PNY Geforce GTX 1060 XLR8 OC 6 Go 210 €
Case Corsair Carbide SPEC-05 51 €
Power Supply corsair cx550m 68 €
  Total 1 135 €

The Z390 motherboard I previously picked isn't recommended by major Hackintosh guides, while the Z370 is. Its price is ok.

Regarding the graphic card, I'm still unsure. The Geforce is indeed better on many aspects, but the price tag is much higher than the RX570 I initially picked: 137€ on Reichelt (too good to be true?). It makes the GeForce 50% more expensive to perform only 18% better.
