filippalfi

Help!

As the title says, i suddenly lost signal to my monitor and nothing works.

Turned on my pc, launched rise of the tomb raider, played it for 15 minutes and screen just went black, without any signal. Tried different hdmi cables, rebooting xy times, reseating the GPU which helped but again lost signal after 15 seconds after booting, and now i cant get the signal no matter what i do. Cpu doesnt have iGPU so i cant do DDU and other stuff.

Specs: Xeon e3 1231 v3

16gb ram

1070 ti armor

Sounds like a failing gpu, I would try to test it in another system if you can. Could be PSU possibly.

Forgot to mention the PSU. Its a 2 week old Gigabyte G750H unit. Dont have other place to try it at the moment. It worked absolutely fine yesterday, this morning until that happened. Just now i managed to boot, it was on desktop for 10 seconds, and again, black screen, no signal.

2 week old doesn't mean it isn't couldn't be bad but it just more unlikely.

I just build a new rig from the ground up and the corsair command pro that came with my case had a fan control issue and one of the cache ssd's from gigabyte has issues. Corsair took care of me on the spot didn't even have to send the bad controller in they sent a new retail version. Still dealing with Gigabyte which is turning out to be a pain.

Well, thats true. But yeah, person would hope stuff works right  when bought brand new. Took everything apart  and noticed that AIO wasnt properly seated when i changed the thermal paste, hopefully it was that, gonna try it now.

But then again, it would thermal shutdown right? Not just lose signal and keep running.

You would think it would if its related to heat but stranger things have happened. Check PSU connections reseat the card the usually stuff. Maybe you just got a bad seat. (Trying to be optimistic. :)

Thanks man! Took everything apart, gonna clean it, reapply thermal paste again, but everything back together and try, also removed the CMOS battery for a few minutes, just in case.

Is it smart to clean the PCIe port with alcohol?

I've done it just be careful and double, triple check you have all power disconnected and hit your power button a few times to discharge.

Cleaned everything, put it back together, problem persists. It boots, stays on desktop, then loses signal. Signal wont come back again unless i take the GPU out and put back in, and when it does show up, it lasts 10 seconds in the desktop.

Edit: signal doesnt go away in bios... Is it possible this is driver issue?

Edit no. 2.: It went away again, but lasted much longer in the bios.

Yeah, me too. I had 2 cables, one for my PC, one for my PS3. One taken from PS3 lost signal as well, but brand new one works great with PC no issues at all,but all 3 work just fine with the PS3. Really wtf issue, and first for me.

Updatw no. 2

Worked fine for most of the afternoon till now, when it decided to go 800x600 and dont let me change it. Used DDU again, rolled back to 419.35 WHQL driver, all seems fine.

I wouldn't count on that being a long term solution. Any warranty left on the card?

I do, but not too much, some project cars 2 etc mostly at 1440p/60. I usually play through new AAA titles and then just play project cars again
