I bought a pc on carbonite a year and a half ago. The cpu cooler is a Corsair h100i gtx. I have had absolutely no problems with it until today. When i booted my pc up it got hot really quickly (90 degrees Celsius) on 4% cpu load. I switched off the pc and let it stand for an hour to get the temp down to try see what could be wrong..the corsair software says the pump spins between 2000-5000max depending on the temperature yet on 4% load the temp shoots through the roof..I used a screw driver to hear if i can hear the pump and it sounds a bit clicky even though it spins. Has anyone else had a similar problem and how does one go about fixing as i doubt it has warranty (no proof of payment atleast).

I would try to check the connection between the cooler and the cpu. Probably the contact between them isn't good anymore (screws got loose, thermal paste dried and stuff like that).

Take the cooler off, clean it and the cpu with rubbing alcohol (99%) , reapply paste( personally I use Arctic MX or noctua NTH-1 and it works great). Add a nice blob in the middle and put back the cooler and make sure it's tight. If you've never done this before watch a video on youtube to gain some confidence and go ahead, it's a pretty easy process.

After you finish, power up the pc and check the temps and stress test it to make sure that everything is fine.

Also, make sure to give the pc a good clean if it's dusty, this shouldn't cause the problem that you have but hey, why not if you are going to open it? You can use a can of compressed air for this.
