RAM...

HI.. wanted to ask a question about swapping ram from one desktop to another. My PC has 4GBs of ram and i salvaged 2 (4gb) dimms from a another PC,( A WORKING PC ) I know the ram is compatible but when ever i put those dimms my PC it doesn't seem to want to boot up!!! why? can some one tell !?..

yes the speeds are the same. i currently have 2 corsair 2gb dimms at 1333Mhz and other 2 dimms by "CRUCIAL" also at 1333Mhz but 4gb.

 

although i do not know about the timings? and i don't even know what is timings?

ddr3 corsair.. and Crucial ddr3 as well.

So 2 dimms are 2gb and the other 2 from the other PC are each 4gb?

Timings are pretty much the delay for the RAM reading the memory, and they are sometimes printed on a sticker on the side of the dimms. The spec will look something like

15-15-15-35. If they mismatch, that'll cause some problems.

ok yup it is a timing issue, i probably have to by new ram now. thanks for the help any way! and thanks for telling me what timing is i never knew what it was..!
