yah but its not especially balanced, a H100 AIO and a 2600 is an odd choice and the PSU is fairly overkill wattage wise

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

What would be a good choice of cpu cooler, I don't have a lot of knowledge with ryzen cpu

The one that comes stock is good enough for the 2600, you could throw in a better chip with the money spent and get something like an NH-U12 or Freezer 33(i think that has AM4 mounts, not 100% sure)

Instead of getting that corsair cooler,  what about getting the ryzen 7 2700 (also comes with a cooler)

Can anyone give their input on this idea?

Is your friend ok to build his own or is he needing a pre-built system ? In any case that ram is a bit slow for ryzen. You should aim for 3000MHz. Something like an Arctic Cooler 34 esports duo would do for the cooler. The MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC is a better board and that has onboard wifi.

Most pc stores will build you a system if you buy the parts from them. So something like below is what I would aim for. You have Overclockers, Scan and Aria (Gladiator) who are pretty good.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor  (£141.50 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: ARCTIC - Freezer 34 eSports DUO CPU Cooler  (£29.95 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: MSI - B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX AM4 Motherboard  (£117.57 @ CCL Computers)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  (£80.84 @ Box Limited)
Storage: Gigabyte - UD PRO 256 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (£35.98 @ CCL Computers)
Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (£53.46 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB WINDFORCE Video Card  (£460.00 @ AWD-IT)
Case: Fractal Design - Focus G (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  (£45.98 @ Novatech)
Power Supply: Corsair - TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  (£64.99 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £1030.27
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
