Hey I'm new to the forum, but I've been on here from the outside and have found information in the past helpful. I want to upgrade my rig......its been a while. I'm the kind of person that upgrades about once every 5 years or when I notice I can't max games out with ease. YES I'm that annoying person that if all my settings aren't on ultra its a deal breaker.

With that said I'm looking at doing an internal upgrade. I've already upgraded my GPU and I believe that taste of "blood" started this rabbit hole that must be completed before I can cover it with dirt. With that said see my current build below:

4790k OC @ 4.5 GHZ

Maximus VII Hero

16 GB HyperX @ 2133 mhz

ROG Strix RTX 2080 OC Edition

500 GB 850 EVO SSD

EVGA Platinum 1000 Watt PSU

I plan to only change out CPU, MB, Ram, and add M.2.

See what I'm considering:

i9 9900K or i7 9700k (can't decide)

Maximus VI Hero

16 GB of HyperX Predator @ 3200 mhz

M.2 Samsung 970 EVO 500 GB

Everything else will remain the same. Thoughts? and what CPU would you choose? Typically I just go with the best for the socket, but the temps on the 9900k scare me. I don't plan to initially OC since I won't have to due to its current clock being ridiculous. Do you think the H150i pro would keep this cool for gaming and streaming?

Yeah just gaming and multitask work for my job that doesn't require any upgrades. So this is really just to have a better gaming experience. That was my initial thought as well. Just get the 9900k since I won't do any internal upgrades for 4-5 yrs, but the temp issue seems to be a known concern. I've read many people complaining of temps getting in the 80s during gaming. There not even doing any stress testing. My 4790k gets in the 60s at most. Typically stays in the 50s during gaming.
