airflow

Go to solution Solved by rentaspoon,

My theory is basically if he's pushing MORE hot air into the system, and disrupting the natural flow of heat dissipation at the same time... it just seems a little inefficient as an intake fan is all.

Which is true, I'm going on the thought of increase airflow will increase heat dissapation.

Both ideas will work.

maybe with double sided tape

and the second  one the side panel

I'd leave the side panel empty. The NH-D14 won't fit with a fan mounted at the top and an exhaust at the bottom mount isn't ideal.

120mm's would be awkward. A 140mm fits more snuggly in the 5.25" bay.

2 intakes at the front and 1 exhaust in the rear should be fine. I personally just use 1 intake and one exhaust and my temps are still great because of the fan positioning.

What I suggested has more intake than exhaust.

Also it's more about overall airflow than the number of fans.

What I'm not getting here is that it's supposed to be summer why would you want more air coming in? And keeping the side panel on when it has no cooling potential and is more of a hindrance in that respect doesn't make sense to me. :/

The D-14 does a great job of cooling the CPU already so give the GPU some room to breathe with the panel removed. The top and rear exhaust should be optimal.... please correct me if I'm wrong but this seems like the most viable option.

then later down the track i will cut 2x 120mm fan holes to blow the heat out

More air = more cooling. No air = no cooling.

The side panel keeps the air from going in any and every direction.
