I am looking to build an PC I can upgrade in the future while being able to run the Vive today.

This is what I am leaning towards but, really need to stay within my $1000 budget. Also I have B350 mobo on my other PC and was looking at getting one for this, however i was getting a comparability error which said the BIOS needed to be updated with a different CPU before it was usable for this list. Can I get an explanation of what would be needed?

what I have thought so far is this:

Any and all thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I'm not sure about your bios problem, but I think that you will be happier with a Radeon 580 8GB model, or a 1060/1070 8GB model.

B350 boards require a bios update to work with the Ryzen 2xxx chips.

However, any of them that you buy now SHOULD be updated out of the box

I think 1k is a difficult one to achieve. Could get a worse cpu but 4 cores isn't particularly future proof whereas 6 cores gives you some space. Downgraded to rx 580 in order to give you space for 16gb ram which is crucial for gaming going into the next few years. Also improved the case. Not much more can be done:

If you are going to go with a 580, get a cheaper one. It will have a negligibly worse performance, but you can start saving for a future upgrade.

Thank you all for your comments, I will definitely switch over to a Corsair PSU now that I've looked into it. The RX 580 seems a bit under powered for the targeted Vive VR games wanting to play, ill have to wait and adjust the budget, I have a setup already so no rush.

With a $1200-$1300 budget what would be the base GPU and CPU that would run the VR well. Im thinking mid 1660 TI but i dont see much about it in VR.

Again, any comments would greatly be appreciated!

That Red Devil 580 is pretty good, if not one of the best 580's out there.

If you dont mind the noise and higher temperatures, then yea get a cheaper one.
