External Graphics Cards Performance issues

I am using Thinkpad X1C 2017 i5 8Gb RAM.

And I bought an External Graphics Cards Gigabytes RX580 8Gb Gaming Box. However, I can only get 30-40 FPS in PUBG and Horizon 4.

My friend is using RX580 8 Gb with Ryzen 5 2600 with 16 Gb RAM. And he can get 100 FPS in PUBG and Horizon 4 with same display setting.

 

theoretically, I can get 80% performance of RX580 through the Thunderbolt 3. But I didn't get it.

 

Does someone know what to do to fix it?

You have a dual core CPU, thats the issue.

even if you're on a desktop, a dual core CPU will slow down the RX 580 considerably, let alone a low frequency mobile CPU

It is a laptop with low clocked, dual core CPU and running on DDR3 RAM (assuming it is this one https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Carbon-2017-Core-i5-Full-HD-Laptop-Review.229966.0.html).

Why would you expect to get 80% of desktop system performance? That Ryzen CPU is multiple times faster.

then it's wrong. Look up videos in youtube yourself, 7200U with 940MX already plays Forza Horizon 4 as well as the 7200U with 950M, indicating a CPU bottleneck. They also get around 35-40fps.
