PC Specs: CPU: Intel i7 6700k @4.7Ghz, Mobo: MSi Gaming M5 Z170A, RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB 2400 (2 x 8gb), CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 AIO, GPU: Asus Strix GTX 1070 oc, PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 750W, SSD: Crucial MX300 525GB M.2-2280, HDD: Western Digital Cavier Blue 1TB, Keyboard: Razer Ornata Chroma, Mouse: Razer Mamba Elite, Headset: Steelseries Arctis 7, OS: Windows 10 Home. I have Linux installed on another drive for software development as well.

I have been experiencing full CPU lock level freezing for the last 2 days. I have essentially tried everything except refreshing my windows. When it freezes, nothing responds and I am forced to hard reset. Even my rgb animation pauses. Mobo temp screen thing (the two little led things that show temps/error codes) stop too.

Really don't know what to do at this point. Fairly sure it isn't hardware related as Linux has no issues, or at least I haven't discovered any.

Some help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Have you removed the overclock yet? That should be the place to start, regardless of whether Linux works.

Thank you @NelizMastr! It was my overclock. It's all good now with no freezes.

No problem :) overclocking stability is a tough nut to crack sometimes. Takes a lot of tweaking to get it right.
