Hey,

Setup:

Ryzen 5 2600

be quiet! Pure Rock Tower Cooler

ASRock B450 Pro4

RX 580 (8GB Vram)

G.Skill Aegis 3000 2x 8GB

be quiet! PURE POWER 11 600W

So I didn't even plan on OCing my system a lot,

I was aiming for something like 3.8-4ghz.

So first of all this is my first time OCing so I am a noob. :D

Firstly I got kind of confused that apparently I can't use the RAM at it's full 3000mhz, even though the board does support up to 3200mhz, apparently I should run my RAM at max 2933mhz.

So I have been doing my testing with Prime95 and core temp - it seemed like the system was running smoothly at 3.8ghz with 1.375V having my RAM at 2933mhz with 1.3V.

But when I got home (OCed my system at a friends) I witnessed problems again, I just got a random bluescreen just surfing and watching streams Error Code: 0x0000004e (0x000000000000008d, 0x00000000003167fe, 0x0000000000410008, 0xffff8902db0bc918).

So apparently that Error-Code could have something to do with memory, I then did the windows 10 memory check and did the whole thing, it didn't find any mistakes / problems.

My system didn't even get really hot at any of my test runs (even the 4ghz and 1.4V test runs only peaked at like 85C), having the lower OC-Settings I had something like 70-80C peak temp, so it does not seem to be a temperature issue.

I currently seem to have the system stable at only 3.7ghz with 1.375V and my RAM at 2866mhz with 1.3V.

Not that the discpreancy to like 3.9ghz or 2933mhz ram matters but it still bothers me and I mainly want to understand why I am having so many issues with the OCing.

Is it the mainboard limiting it? Could it be that something got delivered broken / bugy? Could it be that I just got really unlucky in the silicon lottery?

Greetings

Sebastian

Did you update the bios to the latest one? Just check the steps on which versions to upgrade to.

Up your RAM voltage to 1.4V it's not an issue for DDR4, should get it stable at 3000mhz

There's for some idea on clock/voltage for Ryzen 2000

Also just use cinebench, Prime95 is overkill

First glaring issue is RAM at 1.3V.  RAM is either rated at 1.2V at slower speeds, but more usually at 1.35V.  So if you're aren't running at 1.35V at 2933MHz then that may be the problem.

Also, to test RAM stability you'll want something like TM5 or Memtest.  And if you could download Ryzen Timing Checker then you can help us more by showing us your timings.

So you are suggesting that it's an utter waste to run at 1.375V with 3700mhz?

Ok ran mem-test for a bit (probably would have to run it longer than a few minutes to really know) so far there weren't any issues though.

And ok I will set the RAM Voltage to 1.35V with 2933mhz in a sec.

Is that helpful?

You should be able to get higher than 3750mhz at that voltage

Or you could just lower the voltage if you're trying to keep temps/power down.

Well I certainly would like to get to a higher mhz - at the same time my main priority is that it runs stable - maybe the ryzen timing checks will give some more context.

What would your suggestion be in terms of what I should try, like what mhz at what voltage?

Just use the video as a basic guide.

But you should leave your CPU at stock while you test RAM settings so you'll know if your memory or CPU is unstable.

Also yeah BIOS got updated to the latest version (forgot to mention that earlier).
