1440p 165hz capture device?

Silentsoul

Im trying to find a capture device that can handle 1440p 165hz. The elgato 4k60 pro cannot. Only goes to 600MHz pixel clock. 1440p 165hz exceeds that. Anyone have a suggestion.

I know i could extend my display but i do not wanna do that or i would go a different route all together.

There are none. The only thing I can suggest is software capture like OBS.

Doesnt have to be consumer. Arent video production firms capturing 8k+?

You can probably do like 1440p 120hz, should be around the same bandwidth as 4k 60hz.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

With cameras :3 Even if there are professional signal capture boxes they aren't going to be using DisplayPort, likely HD-SDI.

Right. Trying to not compromise. The 4k60 pro should do 144hz.

This one can do 1440p 144FPS but its very expensive $900+

Elgato 4k60 pro should too. Much cheaper. Says it can handle 600mhz. 1440p 144 is high 500s.

Elgato 4k60 requires you to have an NVIDIA card and it uses the NVENC on the NVIDIA card, the way the Elgato and this Magewell capture cards work are very different. There is a reason why it costs that much more.

It doesnt have a built in encoder but i dont see why h.264 cpu encode would not work.

It will work.

You need to modify the OBS driver so that you can allow more FPS capture.

Just look at the video I posted. He compares it to different capture cards and even mentions what to change in OBS and what you need. Its not a video guide, it will only point you the right direction.
